JOINT (League of NGOs in Mozambique) marked presence in the prestigious Course of Diplomacy and Political Advisors for Peace Support Operations, realized by the Regional Training Centre for the Maintenance of Peace of SADC (SADC RPTC) between the days 6 and 19 of September. The institution made itself represented by its Officer of Communication, Elídia Zacarias, who integrated a select group of participants coming from various countries of Southern Africa.
The intensive course, with the duration of two weeks, had as principal objective to capacitate professionals for the performance of strategic functions of political advisory in complex peace missions. The program covered a vast fan of essential topics, since the architectures of peace and security of the African Union and of SADC and the international legal frameworks (International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights), until to the practical competences for the analysis, prevention, management and resolution of conflicts.
Cross-cutting themes of extreme relevance, like the protection of civilians, the child protection, the integration of the perspective of gender, the conduct and discipline — with direct focus in the prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) — and the techniques of communication for political advisors, integrated also the programmatic curriculum.
This participation translates the unequivocal commitment of JOINT with the agenda of the peace and security, basilar pillars for the sustainable development that the organization advocates. The specialized knowledge here acquired will enrich the programmatic approach of JOINT, endowing it of robust tools to integrate an in-depth perspective of analysis of conflicts and consolidation of the peace in its projects, with a direct and positive impact in the work along with the communities.
With this initiative, JOINT reaffirms its continuous commitment in to invest in the technical capacitation of its cadres, aiming an increasingly substantive and qualified contribution for the stability, security and sustainable development in Mozambique and in the African continent.
